OUR SCHOOL
A message from the Principal
Welcome to Coleraine College, a non-selective post primary school which was founded in 2001 following the amalgamation of Coleraine Boys’ Secondary School and Coleraine Girls’ Secondary School. The school is situated on an expansive 30 acre greenfield site on the Carthall Road in Coleraine and draws pupils from primary schools in Coleraine and much further afield. We welcome pupils from all backgrounds, nationalities, faiths and abilities and pride ourselves on being an inclusive, welcoming and supportive school.
All pupils at Coleraine College benefit from innovative, challenging and varied teaching strategies, in a safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment where the pastoral and the academic needs blend together seamlessly allowing our young people to thrive. We provide a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum to cater for the individual needs of all the pupils in our care.
Our staff are passionate about providing our pupils with an excellent learning experience in safe and secure environment, where each child is encouraged and challenged to be the best they can be. We provide a pathway for every child who chooses to join us. For some this will be a more academic route while others may be better suited to a more practical and vocational pathway. Children who join us with special educational needs can benefit from a caring and nurturing experience in our Learning Support Centre. We now also have specialist provision for statemented children with specific Autistic Spectrum Disorder needs in our Aspire Centre.
Our partner agencies frequently comment on the exceptional standards of pastoral care which support our pupils. In Coleraine College, every child really does matter and no child falls below the radar. We endeavour to provide “wrap around care” and extensive support for every pupil. The Coleraine College experience makes a positive impact upon the lives of each young person, not just in terms of adding value to academic performance, but also in terms of the holistic development of each child.
We strive to develop the physical, spiritual, emotional and moral well-being of our pupils, building their self-esteem by promoting the values of tolerance, respect and understanding, as highlighted by our well established RESPECT code, which will equip our young people to become valued members of our society.
In Coleraine College there is strong sense of community, where staff, pupils, parents and Governors work together to ensure that every child receives the best possible educational experience.
